THE REQUIREMENT Each location of DE was using standalone software packages for their operations and finance department. Due to this it was difficult and inefficient for the group management to get overall business information from each location. Within each location, the operations department and finance department were using separate software packages. This resulted in inefficiency, lack of control as well as duplication of data entry. THE SOLUTION NeoSoft/ExcelSoft suggested a web centric software (e-Freight), solution to DE. The software is well integrated with modules such as Air Freight operations, Sea Freight operations, Finance and HRD. This solution is being implemented in all locations.
Challenges The biggest challenge for the client lay in centralized data for decision making purposes. Each production facility maintained its own data related to inventory, vendor, human resource and productivity. Coupled to this was the need to extract data from an ERP system. Solution A requirement for the system was to provide for retrieving data from all the distributed sources, validate the data and integrate it with a central repository for reporting and analytical purposes. NeoSoft/ ExcelSoft developed a decision support solution to meet the client's requirements. This solution involved extracting data from the data sources at the production facilities, validating and transforming the data, and loading them into a central repository. The solution also addressed the issues of reporting by creating canned reports to be used at regular intervals and analytical reports with the ability to forecast and identify patterns.

Our client has itself issued many regulatory and (internal) procedure instruction circulars as well as information circulars to guide its staff in their daily operations. It was seeking a way to automate these instructions and circulars to expedite searching of documents via index searching and gain staff productivity. Eliminate the flow of physical paper between branches & departments. Finally, the need to destroy a document after a specified period.
Solution A requirement for the system was to provide for the scanning and uploading of such scanned and other electronic documents to an automated system, thereby removing the need for physical storage of such documents. The second requirement was the ability of users to share the documents irrespective of their location, by leveraging investment in their current infrastructure. NeoSoft/ ExcelSoft developed a document management solution to meet the client's requirements. This solution involved integrating the physical and electronic documents into such a document management system, with necessary indexing and profiling of the documents for retrieval purposes based on access rights.
